ABIM 2026: Where the global biocontrol community meets under one roof
Basel, Switzerland – 22 October 2026: The 2026 Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM) took place from 20–22 October at the Congress Center Basel, Switzerland. It was hosted by ABIM AG, jointly owned by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL and the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association IBMA.
Recognised as the premier global event for the biocontrol industry, ABIM 2026 brought together biocontrol leaders, innovators and stakeholders from 60 countries to discuss the latest developments and future trends in sustainable agriculture. The 21st edition attracted over 180 exhibitors and 2000 delegates from around the globe for three days of knowledge exchange, innovation and networking.
Event Highlights
A key highlight of ABIM 2026 was the wealth of learnings shared from across the globe, especially from Brazil and other countries in the Global South, as well as updates on the latest developments in Europe.
The keynote shared insights into Brazil’s biocontrol landscape and what it takes to scale adoption. A strong product is essential, but it is only the beginning. Equally important is building knowledge on how to successfully bring a product to the market through authorisation and commercialisation, and how to effectively consult and train farmers to maximise outcomes. Discussions also emphasised the role of culture, which acts as the glue that holds the biocontrol industry together.
“Farmers need more biocontrol. At ABIM 2026, we saw that regulators worldwide are adapting regulation for biocontrol. The innovation is clearly there, and in order to scale, the industry must help farmers understand biocontrol and how it works on their farms.”Jennifer Lewis, Executive Director of IBMA.
