Seipasa, the Spanish biotechnology company specializing in sustainable agriculture, has achieved a significant milestone with the European Union registration of its flagship biostimulant, SeiZen. This approval falls under the Product Function Category 6 (B) for non-microbial plant biostimulants, as defined in EU Regulation 2019/1009, enabling the product to be legally marketed across all EU member states with validated functional claims.

SeiZen has been developed using Seipasa’s proprietary PK-Tech platform, which integrates cutting-edge scientific research to enhance plant performance. At the core of this innovation is the Anti-Senescence Molecule (ASM), designed to neutralize reactive oxygen species, delay chlorophyll degradation, and maintain photosynthetic activity for longer periods. This allows plants to keep their “energy factory” running efficiently, converting light energy into chemical energy and directing it to critical growth stages.

According to Francisco Espinosa, R&D Director at Seipasa, this launch goes beyond the standard concept of biostimulants: “With SeiZen, we give the plant the ability to keep its energy factory going and functioning continuously.” He noted that this registration is the first in a series of upcoming biostimulants the company plans to introduce to the European market.

SeiZen is a liquid formulation applicable to a wide range of crops, including field crops, horticultural varieties, woody crops, ornamentals, and medicinal or aromatic plants. Trials have demonstrated its ability to improve plant growth, boost yields, and enhance resilience under high-energy-demand conditions.

The EU registration is strategically important for Seipasa because it aligns marketing claims with proven scientific results, enhancing trust among growers and distributors. Under the new regulatory framework, biostimulants can no longer be marketed solely as fertilisers with implied benefits; instead, they require substantiated and approved functional claims. This regulatory clarity strengthens Seipasa’s competitive positioning in the fast-growing European biostimulant market, projected to exceed USD 3.72 billion by 2030 with a CAGR of more than 12%.

This milestone also underscores Seipasa’s broader Natural Technology® strategy, which merges botanical and microbiological innovation to deliver high-performance, sustainable solutions. Since its founding in 1998 in Valencia, Spain, Seipasa has expanded to over 30 countries and earned prestigious accolades, including Spain’s 2020 National Innovation Prize.
