Patna-based agritech platform DeHaat has announced the acquisition of AgriCentral, an Olam Agri-owned farm advisory platform that serves over 10 million smallholder farmers. The acquisition, executed through an all-cash business transfer agreement (BTA), aims to strengthen DeHaat’s position as India’s largest full-stack agritech platform.

This strategic move will significantly enhance DeHaat’s digital capabilities and expand its farmer network across India, according to the company’s official statement. The integration will enable DeHaat to introduce value-added services such as precision advisory, mechanisation, insurance, and cattle advisory, further empowering farmers with actionable insights.

Enhancing Digital Farming Capabilities

AgriCentral, launched in 2018, brings advanced digital farming tools powered by satellite imagery, machine learning, and Big Data. The platform offers features such as:

  • Crop care diagnostics
  • Real-time market price tracking
  • Personalized crop calendars

All key AgriCentral employees will transition to DeHaat as part of the agreement, ensuring seamless continuity in operations.

A Leap Toward Scalable AgriTech Solutions

With this acquisition, DeHaat will now cater to over 12 million farmers across India, surpassing its 2024 goals. The partnership merges DeHaat’s extensive operational reach with AgriCentral’s cost-efficient digital capabilities to provide transparent and direct access to farmers in the $500 billion Indian agriculture sector.

“AgriCentral’s cost-efficient digital capabilities will complement our efforts in reaching millions of underserved farmers with our full-stack agri value chain offerings. It will also enable us to introduce multiple value-added services to enhance the livelihoods of our farmers,” said Shashank Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of DeHaat.
