Expanding Open-Field Protection Against Soilborne Pathogens Like Phytophthora and Pythium

Biocontrol Technologies has secured a major regulatory extension for T34 Biocontrol® in Greece. Issued by the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the new resolution marks the first time the biofungicide is authorised for use on strawberries and a wide range of small fruits in outdoor cultivation to combat soilborne pathogens such as Phytophthora cactorum, Phytophthora cinnamomi, and Pythium spp.

Authorised Crops and Target Pathogens

The open-field authorisation covers strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, currants, cranberries, and other small fruits. Formulated with the T-34 strain of Trichoderma asperellum, T34 Biocontrol® acts via rhizosphere colonization and antagonism to prevent root and crown rot caused by aggressive oomycetes and fungi.

Flexible Application Methods

1. Root Dipping: Application to young plants prior to transplanting.

2. Irrigation Application: Continuous crop protection throughout the entire growing cycle, allowing up to 12 applications per season with a minimum 30-day interval.
