Thriving Trends at ACI’s Biostimulants Europe 2024

The recent ACI’s Biostimulants Europe 2024 conference was a great success, drawing a large crowd of industry leaders, researchers, scientists, and professionals from the biostimulants sector. Those attending included Aneesa Moolla, Project Manager of our Agrochemicals practice, who delivered a compelling presentation on Biostimulant Market Trends and Outlook.
Dive into her top three takeaways from the expert talks, buzzing networking sessions, and a vibrant exhibition area:
Indian Delegation at the Forefront
A significant contingent from India, representing the India Micro-fertilizers Manufacturers Association (IMMA), made a notable presence at the conference. India’s status as one of the world’s major crop exporters positions it as a key player in the biostimulant industry. In a groundbreaking move in 2021, Indian government implemented regulatory policies, leading to a surge in brand registrations. Biostimulant sales have subsequently experienced substantial growth, aligning with Kline’s projected 25% CAGR between 2019 and 2022. The industry’s rapid development suggests that Indian manufacturers may venture into more international markets in the coming years.
Insights From EU Policy Discussions
The European Union’s new regulatory policies were a hot topic at the conference, with discussions revolving around strategies for obtaining approval for the commercialization of products. Emphasis was placed on the importance of rigorous quality control throughout the supply chain, ensuring the preservation of product performance. This focus aims not only to uphold industry standards but also to cultivate and strengthen farmers’ trust in the efficacy of agricultural products.
Sustainable Innovations
The conversations at the conference also revolved around the shift from a linear to a circular economy model. Recycling has been an important topic for a while, but with companies increasingly focusing on sustainability metrics, it has moved to one of the big issues for this year. At ACI, the discussions zeroed in on emphasizing the use of agricultural and production waste by-products to create innovative biostimulant products.
