CAPXIUM Essence: ATENS’ metabolite-based biostimulant technology for fruit set, calibre and fruit quality

CAPXIUM Essence: ATENS’ metabolite-based biostimulant technology for fruit set, calibre and fruit quality

Supporting Critical Reproductive Stages in High-Value Crops

In high-value fruit production, small differences during flowering, fruit set and early fruit development can have a major impact on final yield, fruit uniformity and marketable quality. For growers, these stages are among the most decisive moments of the crop cycle, especially in crops where calibre, homogeneity and fruit retention directly influence profitability.

A new-generation biostimulant technology

ATENS, a Spanish company specialized in agricultural biotechnology and beneficial microorganisms, has developed CAPXIUM Essence as part of its commitment to innovative BioAg solutions that help growers improve crop performance in a natural and sustainable way.

CAPXIUM Essence is a non-microbial biostimulant based on an extract of Pantoea agglomerans SC1, an exclusive strain selected by ATENS for its ability to support key physiological processes in the plant. Through its metabolite-based formulation, CAPXIUM Essence is designed to accompany the crop during critical reproductive stages, helping to promote fruit set, fruit retention, calibre and overall fruit quality.

Unlike synthetic hormone-based approaches, CAPXIUM Essence offers a natural solution that supports the plant’s own physiological balance. Its formulation is designed to stimulate crop performance without forcing plant development, making it suitable for integration into modern, intensive and sustainable production programs.

More than fruit set: calibre, uniformity and quality

The product is especially relevant for high-value crops where the success of flowering and fruit development defines the commercial outcome of the season. In these systems, improving fruit set is only part of the challenge. Growers also need more uniform fruit development, better calibre distribution and a higher proportion of marketable production.

CAPXIUM Essence responds to these needs by supporting several key aspects of crop performance. Its action contributes to more balanced flowering, improved fruit retention and more homogeneous fruit development. This can translate into a higher number of viable fruits, better calibre and improved uniformity at harvest, helping growers optimize both yield and commercial quality.

Field validation in high-value crops

Field experience has been an essential part of the development and validation of CAPXIUM technology. In different high-value crops, including citrus, stone fruit, cherry and fruiting vegetables, trials and crop validations have shown positive effects on fruit set, fruit calibre and fruit uniformity.

One example comes from a field trial carried out in Chile in a commercial cherry orchard of the Santina variety in Buin. In this trial, CAPXIUM was evaluated against a commonly used seaweed-based biostimulant. According to ATENS field trial data, the application of CAPXIUM showed improvements in fruit retention, production and chlorophyll content. Key results included a 26% increase in fruit retention and production, together with a 14% improvement in chlorophyll content. Evaluations also indicated greater fruit homogeneity, increased leaf area and improved plant reserves for the following season.

Supporting sustainable fruit production

These results highlight the potential of CAPXIUM Essence as a practical tool for growers looking to improve productivity and fruit quality through a natural biostimulant strategy. Its residue-free profile and absence of synthetic hormones make it compatible with demanding production and export standards, while its versatility allows it to be incorporated into different crop management programs.

For ATENS, CAPXIUM Essence represents a step forward in the development of metabolite-based biostimulation technologies. By combining strain selection, microbial expertise and field validation, the company continues to expand its portfolio of BioAg solutions for sustainable and efficient agriculture.

With CAPXIUM Essence, ATENS aims to provide growers with a new tool to support crop performance at one of the most critical stages of production: the transition from flowering to high-quality fruit.
