The RENERA – Brazilian Bioinputs Hub—a sectoral project developed by CropLife Brasil in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil)—made its high-level international debut during the 30th Session of the FAO Committee on Agriculture (COAG 30) in Rome, held from July 20 to 24, 2026. The milestone side event brought global leaders together to discuss how bio-inputs and the bioeconomy enable sustainable agri-food systems.

Brazil’s Leadership in Tropical Science

Keynote speaker and RENERA Ambassador Dr. Mariangela Hungria—an Embrapa researcher and winner of the 2025 World Food Prize—emphasized how decades of investment in tropical science have positioned Brazil not only as a major consumer, but as a primary producer and global supplier of biological agricultural technologies.

Ana Paula Repezza, president of CropLife Brasil, noted that the debut strengthens Brazil’s international image, fostering scientific cooperation, regulatory dialogue, and new commercial opportunities with an estimated national turnover of around US$1.2 billion annually.

“Today, Brazil presents itself not only as a major user of bio-inputs, but as a country that produces knowledge, develops innovation, and transforms scientific research into solutions applicable on a large scale.”

Strategic Agenda with Italy’s CREA

As part of their institutional mission in Rome, RENERA representatives also met with Italy’s Council for Agricultural Research and Agricultural Economics Analysis (CREA). The meeting opened doors for bilateral scientific and institutional cooperation, allowing both nations to align priorities and share expertise in bio-input research.

“Positioning Brazil as a global leader in nature-based agricultural solutions.”
