Submission Status

4th EPA Filing

EcoPhage, a specialist in sustainable phage-based biopesticides, has announced the submission of EcoStraw® to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for regulatory approval. This milestone highlights the scalability of the company’s proprietary research platform, which was developed in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science.

Addressing the Threat of Angular Leaf Spot (ALS)

Strawberries are cultivated on over 60,000 acres annually in the U.S., facing persistent threats from Xanthomonas fragariae, the causal agent of ALS. EcoStraw® is designed as a targeted, foliar-applied preventative solution offering:

  • A precisely selected blend of bacteriophages for broad host coverage.
  • Consistent efficacy and multiple modes of infection to mitigate crop damage.
  • “Plug-and-play” application for seamless integration into existing management practices.
  • Non-GMO and residue-free targeted control that preserves beneficial microorganisms.

Expanding Sustainable Biopesticide Pipeline

EcoStraw® builds on a growing portfolio of EPA submissions aimed at reducing reliance on conventional chemical treatments. Other products in the pipeline include:

  • GoldenEco®: Targets bacterial diseases in tomatoes and peppers.
  • EcoFire®: Designed for fire blight control in apples and pears.
  • EcoBrass®: Developed to manage black rot in Brassicaceae crops.

Executive Commentary

“This is another strong addition to our R&D-driven portfolio, delivering a safe and effective solution for growers. We expect strawberry growers will soon have access to a natural and reliable tool to manage the persistent challenge of ALS.”

— Guy Elitzur, CEO of EcoPhage
