MustGrow’s Canola Field Trials Demonstrate Clubroot Disease Suppression; Improved Canola Yield with Healthier Root Systems

Summary: MustGrow Biologics Corp. has announced successful results from its two-year field trial program in the Canadian Prairies. The trials demonstrate that TerraMG™, a mustard-derived organic biocontrol, effectively suppresses Clubroot disease in canola. Results showed up to a 95% reduction in resting spores and a yield increase of up to 7 bushels per acre, providing a sustainable solution for Canada’s most valuable field crop.

MustGrow’s Canola Field Trials Demonstrate Clubroot Disease Suppression and Improved Yields

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — February 3, 2026

MustGrow Biologics Corp. is pleased to announce the completion of its 2-year field trial program covering approximately 100 acres of canola production. The findings confirm that TerraMG™ is a sustainable technology capable of suppressing Clubroot parasitic disease (P. brassicae) while promoting higher yields and healthier root systems under various disease pressures.

Clubroot is a soil-borne disease that has devastated canola production across the Canadian Prairies. With canola production reaching approximately $14 billion in 2025, the lack of effective registered products for suppression has been a major hurdle for farmers. TerraMG™ combats this by releasing naturally occurring isothiocyanates from mustard seed meal, which possess potent fungicidal and biocidal activity.

Key Trial Results (2024–2025):
  • Spore Reduction: Achieved up to 95% reduction in Clubroot resting spores during high-pressure wet seasons.
  • Yield Impact: Demonstrated up to a 7 bushel/acre increase (a 19% improvement over average production), translating to a $91/acre increase in value for the farmer.
  • Root Health: Visual assessments showed significantly reduced severity and incidence of root galls in treated plots.
  • Persistence: Addresses the 15-20 year longevity of Clubroot resting spores by reducing the soil inoculum load.

“A biological, soil-active technology like MustGrow’s TerraMG™ represents a significant breakthrough in sustainable Clubroot management,” the company stated. Currently, farmers rely on long crop rotations and genetic resistance, but new mutated pathotypes are increasingly overcoming these traditional defenses.

MustGrow is actively working toward registration through Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) to bring this organic biocontrol to the broader market. The trials were conducted via NexusBioAg, MustGrow’s wholly-owned Canadian distribution business.
