Summary: MustGrow Biologics Corp. has successfully completed a two-year field trial program demonstrating that its mustard-derived technology, TerraMG™, effectively suppresses Clubroot—a devastating soil-borne disease in canola. Trial results showed up to a 95% reduction in Clubroot spores and yield increases of up to 7 bushels per acre, providing a potential breakthrough for Canadian farmers who currently have no registered products for Clubroot suppression.
MustGrow Announces Breakthrough Results in Two-Year Clubroot Suppression Trials
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — February 3, 2026
MustGrow Biologics Corp. is pleased to announce the completion and results of its 2-year field trial program in the Canadian Prairies on approximately 100 acres of canola production. Findings have demonstrated that MustGrow’s TerraMG™ is a sustainable technology capable of suppressing Clubroot parasitic disease (P. brassicae) and promoting higher canola yields and healthier root systems.
Clubroot is a highly resilient soil-borne disease that disrupts water and nutrient uptake, often leading to shriveled seeds or 100% crop loss. With canola production reaching approximately $14 billion in 2025, the lack of registered suppression products has left farmers with limited options as new mutated pathotypes begin to overcome genetically resistant varieties.
- Spore Reduction: In the wetter 2024 season, TerraMG™ achieved up to a 95% reduction in Clubroot resting spores.
- Yield Boost: Trials showed up to a 7 bushel/acre increase in 2024, representing a 19% increase over the national average and a $91/acre value increase for farmers.
- Natural Mechanism: The technology releases naturally occurring isothiocyanates from mustard seed meal, which possess potent fungicidal and biocidal activity.
- Root Health: Visual assessments confirmed reduced severity and incidence of root galls in treated plots.
“A biological, soil-active technology like TerraMG™, capable of reducing resting spore loads, represents a significant breakthrough in sustainable Clubroot management,” the company stated. MustGrow is currently working towards registering the organic biocontrol through Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA).
The trials were conducted through MustGrow’s wholly-owned marketing and distribution business, NexusBioAg. By combining proprietary mustard-derived technologies with a portfolio of biostimulants and nutrients, MustGrow continues to provide eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic chemicals.
