Phoenix Biosolutions, the new company founded by the team of entrepreneurs and executives who turned microalgae biotechnology into a key industry for global agriculture, officially announces its launch with a disruptive proposal that redefines access to agricultural innovation. Unlike the traditional product-based model, Phoenix introduces a Tech as a Service (TaaS) approach, which puts technology directly in the hands of distributors and farmers.

“At Phoenix, we believe that the future of agriculture lies not only in innovation, but in access to it,” says Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster, CEO of Phoenix Biosolutions. “Our mission is to democratize biotechnology by transferring our know-how so producers can manufacture their own biostimulants locally, in a more affordable and sustainable way.”

Phoenix Biosolutions specializes in establishing turnkey facilities for the production of microalgae-based biostimulants, working closely with distributors, cooperatives and large agricultural operations. This model enables:

  • Empowering distributors with greater margins and commercial autonomy.
  • Providing farmers with access to cutting-edge solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Shortening the supply chain, making sustainability more scalable.

“Phoenix is not a product company. It is a technology partner,” adds Rodríguez-Villa. “We are proud to lead a new path that returns control, value, and impact to those who grow our food.”

The agricultural biostimulants market is around EUR 5 billion and is expected to grow by 10–12 percent annually in the coming years.

Headquartered in Madrid, Phoenix Biosolutions begins operations in Europe and Latin America, with plans for global expansion in the coming months.
