EcoPhage appoints Dr. Lu Wei Liu to its Board of Directors to assist with production scale-up.

EcoPhage, a leader in the development of sustainable phage-based biopesticides, has made a major leadership move. Today, the company announced that EcoPhage appoints Dr. Lu Wei Liu to its Board of Directors. This strategic addition comes as the company anticipates its first U.S. EPA approval for bacterial plant disease solutions.

Strengthening Leadership for Commercial Scale-Up

Dr. Liu brings extensive experience across sourcing, R&D, technology, and manufacturing. Consequently, he joins EcoPhage at a critical juncture. The company is currently preparing for production scale-up and its subsequent commercial launch in key markets.

His expertise is expected to be vital in navigating the complexities of bringing a biological product from the lab to the global market.

About Dr. Lu Wei Liu

Dr. Liu has a distinguished career in the agricultural sector:

  • Corporate Leadership: He previously served as Director of Technology, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and In-licensing at FMC Agricultural Products International.
  • Startup Expertise: He has played key roles in several bio-fermentation startups. There, he built expertise in manufacturing, licensing, regulatory submission, and product commercialization.
  • Academic Background: Dr. Liu earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the School of Pharmacy of Beijing University. He followed this with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Pierre & Marie Curie and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.

Dr. Liu currently holds dual citizenship of Hong Kong and Canada.
