Saga Robotics, the Norwegian agri-robotics company known for its autonomous field robot Thorvald,
has secured USD 11.2 million in new funding to accelerate its commercial rollout.
The round marks a significant milestone as the company transitions from research and pilot projects
into large-scale commercial operations, positioning Thorvald as a leader in sustainable farming solutions.

The investment was backed by a strong mix of new and existing investors.
Among them is Praesidium Agri-FoodTech, a Luxembourg-based venture capital fund focused
on scalable agtech innovations. Returning investors include Aker, Nysnø Climate Investments, Blystad,
Hatteland, Melesio, Sanden, and MP Pensjon
, reaffirming their confidence in Saga Robotics’ vision
and growth trajectory.

Strengthening the Board

Alongside the funding, Saga Robotics announced important changes to its leadership structure.
Dorn Wenninger has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board, bringing decades of global
agribusiness experience. He is joined by Yvonne Silden Langlo of Nysnø, with additional members
including Atle Eide, CEO of Maringto AS, and Laila Danielsen, CEO of global AI
software company Elliptic Labs. Alice Laurora from Praesidium Agri-FoodTech will also participate
as an observer, reinforcing the company’s ties with leading agri-tech investors.

Thorvald’s commercial breakthrough

Thorvald, the company’s flagship autonomous robot, is already recognized for its role in sustainable
farming practices such as UV-C treatment to reduce crop diseases and precision operations
that lower chemical usage. With this funding, Saga Robotics aims to scale production and deployment
across key agricultural markets, meeting rising global demand for climate-friendly and cost-efficient
farming solutions.

Industry outlook

The funding and leadership expansion signal Saga Robotics’ evolution from a pioneering startup into
a commercial-scale company. As agriculture faces pressure to reduce emissions and improve efficiency,
the integration of robotics like Thorvald provides a transformative tool for growers. By combining
advanced automation, sustainable practices, and strong investor backing, Saga Robotics is
now well-positioned to become a global leader in the agri-robotics sector.
