Maharashtra Launches ₹25,000 Crore Krishi Samruddhi Yojana

(Announced by Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate on July 22, 2025)

The Maharashtra government unveiled the Krishi Samruddhi Yojana, a five‑year initiative starting in FY 2025‑26 with an annual investment of ₹5,000 crore (totaling ₹25,000 crore). Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate described it as a “gift to farmers” on the birthdays of CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

The scheme aims to empower farmers through sustainable, climate‑resilient, and cost‑effective agriculture by:

  • Promoting capital investment in modern agricultural infrastructure like micro‑irrigation, mechanisation, and warehousing.
  • Encouraging crop diversification, soil fertility management, climate‑friendly seeds, and cost‑effective farming practices.
  • Establishing Innovation Hubs for digital farming, agri‑weather advisories, logistics, and farm services.
  • Providing financial assistance via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with mandatory Agristac registration. Preference will be given to women, small/marginal, SC/ST, PwDs, and FPO‑based farmers.

The scheme builds on lessons from the World Bank‑supported Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanvardhini Prakalp (Sanjeevani Project). Earlier piloting of similar interventions showed yield increases of 5%–16% and production cost reductions of 10%–15%.

The state’s government resolution highlights persistent challenges in agriculture—such as deficient irrigation, inadequate credit, input cost inflation, and climate unpredictability—and positions the scheme as a key response. Over 201 lakh hectares of Maharashtra land is under cultivation, with nearly half of the population dependent on agriculture.
