BioFirst Group Releases 2024 Sustainability Report, Strengthening Global ESG Commitment
Westerlo, Belgium, July 30, 2025 – BioFirst Group is pleased to announce the publication of its 2024 Sustainability Report, outlining measurable progress across environmental, social and governance (ESG) domains.
As a global provider of sustainable crop solutions, the group continues to strengthen its positive impact, driven by innovation, responsibility, and long-term partnerships. The report showcases achievements across BioFirst’s divisions, and highlights tangible steps taken to support growers, ecosystems, and local communities around the world.
“This report reflects how sustainability is embedded in our daily work across continents,” said Peter van Leent, Sustainability Manager at BioFirst Group. “Our teams are not only driving results in the field, but also shaping a more responsible future for agriculture — from millions of tons of avoided emissions, to reforestation and food security efforts, to safer workplaces and smarter packaging choices. These achievements are only possible thanks to the dedication and passion of our people worldwide.”
Highlights from the 2024 Report
- Sustainable expansion: The group opened new production facilities in Belgium, Brazil and Mexico, all designed with high sustainability and safety standards.
- Climate impact measurement: While BioFirst’s global operations continue to grow, its emission intensity is steadily decreasing. Early lifecycle assessments show that for one top-selling product alone, the emissions avoided already exceed the group’s total carbon footprint — demonstrating the powerful climate potential of biological alternatives.
- Stronger, safer workplaces: Investments in safety culture and open communication led to a significant drop in incident frequency and absenteeism across production sites.
- Local reforestation initiatives: BioFirst employees and partners contributed to tree planting and biodiversity projects in Brazil and Mexico, with long-term commitments to environmental restoration.
- Award-winning sustainability and workplace culture: BioFirst received various recognitions, including the Trends Impact Award for Most Sustainable Company and the Changemakers Award in Belgium, as well as a Great Place to Work certification and multiple industry awards in Brazil.
Looking Ahead
BioFirst is committed to eliminating all fossil-based packaging by 2030, strengthening biodiversity protection, and continuing to reduce emissions while expanding operations globally.
The report now aligns with international reporting standards such as the Californian Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act and the European Corporate Social Responsibility Directive (CSRD). In the near future a full CSRD report will also be published.
