Horticoop is actively investing in businesses that drive positive change in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. These investments not only benefit the industry but also align with the cooperative’s mission to support its members while securing the sector’s future. The recent addition of REKA to the Horticoop portfolio reflects this commitment, reinforcing its focus on sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

REKA originated as a carve-out from Koppert Biological Systems and builds upon decades of expertise in soil health and regenerative agriculture. Founded in 2013 as part of Koppert, REKA became an independent entity in 2024. By integrating scientific innovation with practical applications, the company empowers farmers and growers worldwide to improve yields and adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

REKA offers a range of nutrients, inoculants, and soil stimulants designed to create a fertile foundation for plant growth, forming the basis of regenerative and future-proof agriculture. By enhancing soil microbiology, REKA improves soil structure and increases the efficiency of nutrient and water uptake through enhanced root development.

Patrick Groeneveld, Managing Director of Horticoop, emphasized the importance of REKA’s contributions, stating, “REKA’s products contribute to soil solutions that enhance the long-term sustainability of agriculture and horticulture, as well as supporting more sustainable worldwide food production. This aligns closely with Horticoop’s ambition to realize a future-proof horticultural sector, and as REKA shareholders, we are proud to also be pulling our weight.”

Aron Oosthoek, Managing Director of REKA, highlighted the value of the partnership: “By virtue of our collaboration with the Horticoop investment cooperative and its members, we can actively contribute to healthy soil with strong and resilient plants. This constitutes a solid foundation for a future-proof agricultural and horticultural sector.”

With this strategic investment, Horticoop strengthens its position in the sector by fostering innovation in soil health and regenerative agriculture. By supporting companies like REKA, Horticoop continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable farming while ensuring long-term value for its members.
