Agrobiomics secures EUR 1.5 Million from GUDP to Enhance Cereal Crop Resilience

Agrobiomics, a Nordic BioAg company pioneering resilient agriculture, has been awarded a generous grant of EUR 1.5 million from the Green Development and Demonstration Programme (GUDP). The funding will support the BIORESCUE project, aimed at developing and validation a biostimulant to enhance cereal crop resilience against climate stressors, particularly drought, through the validation of Agrobiomics proprietary natural metabolite – a cutting-edge biostimulant.

Addressing Climate Challenges in Danish Agriculture
BIORESCUE seeks to tackle one of the most pressing issues in agriculture: the vulnerability of crops to extreme weather events, with a primary focus on drought resilience. At the heart of this project is the validation of PTA, a biostimulant designed to bolster cereals’ tolerance to stress factors.

Upon receiving the positive news from GUDP, CEO of Agrobiomics, Ananda Scherner, Said: “We are delighted to receive the GUDP Grant and are looking forward to work with the partners in this project. The grant will be key to substantially support the development of our Technology and validate it in Danish conditions, allowing us to bring it to the market much faster.”

Collaborative Efforts for Transformative Results
The project is supported by a strong consortium of partners, including the University of Copenhagen, Agrolab, and SEGES Innovation P/S. This collaborative approach will allow Agrobiomics to tap into robust screening tools and targeted and scalable field-testing setups for the development of next-generation biostimulants, while a successful project will equip Danish agriculture with an advanced biostimulant validated under local field conditions.

Impact on Danish Agriculture
BIORESCUE will play a pivotal role in climate-adapting Danish food production by strengthening key crops’ resilience to extreme weather conditions through the developed biostimulant. For farmers, this translates into higher and more stable yields, even under drought stress. Additionally, for the agricultural sector, the methodologies generated in BIORESCUE will accelerate the development and testing of future novel biosolutions to support resilient agri-food systems in Denmark and elsewhere.

Project Details:
Project Name: BIORESCUE – Biostimulant to Enhance the Resilience of Cereals by Increasing Tolerance to Drought.
Project Duration: January 2025 – January 2029.
Partners: Agrobiomics ApS (Lead), University of Copenhagen, Agrolab, SEGES Innovation P/S.

About GUDP

Green Development and Demonstration Program (GUDP) is a development and demonstration program under the Danish Agricultural Agency that provides grants for projects working to make Danish food production more climate- and environmentally friendly.

GUDP provides grants to projects across the entire food cluster, covering everything from primary production on land or at sea, to technology development, refinement, processing, and marketing.
