Groundbreaking of BASF’s New Fermentation Plant for Biological Crop Protection Products

BASF has initiated construction on a new fermentation facility in Ludwigshafen for the production of biological and biotechnology-driven crop protection solutions. Scheduled for completion in the latter part of 2025, the plant will focus on manufacturing biological fungicides and seed treatment products. Additionally, BASF aims to produce the primary component of Inscalis®, an innovative insecticide sourced from a fungal strain. The production process involves the utilization of microorganisms to transform renewable resources like glucose into the targeted products through fermentation. Approximately 30 individuals will be employed across production, logistics, engineering, and maintenance roles at the facility.
