TOULOUSE, France & DURHAM, N.C., July 10, 2025 – In a major leadership transition, Micropep Technologies, a pioneering company in sustainable crop protection through micropeptide-based solutions, has appointed Georg Goeres as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2025. The announcement marks a pivotal step in Micropep’s evolution from research-driven startup to a commercial leader in agricultural biologicals.

With more than two decades of international leadership experience, Georg Goeres brings deep operational and strategic expertise in biological crop solutions. He most recently led the Biologicals Business Unit at Indigo Agriculture, where he oversaw large-scale commercial rollouts and strategic partnerships across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Africa. His background aligns perfectly with Micropep’s mission to transform crop protection using advanced biotechnology.

Goeres succeeds Thomas Laurent, the company’s co-founder and CEO since its inception in 2016. Laurent will continue to support Micropep as a Strategic Advisor to the Board, ensuring continuity during this critical scale-up phase. Under his leadership, Micropep has achieved numerous milestones including the development of its proprietary Krisalix™ micropeptide discovery platform, the launch of its first biofungicide candidate, and successful fundraising rounds totaling over $60 million.

Kevin Smith, Chairman of the Board at Micropep, stated, “This is a defining moment for Micropep. With Georg Goeres at the helm, we are confident in our ability to accelerate commercialization and expand globally. His track record of driving growth in the biologicals space will be instrumental in delivering Micropep’s innovations to the field. We are deeply grateful to Thomas Laurent for his vision, resilience, and foundational leadership.”

Commenting on his new role, Georg Goeres shared, “Micropep’s platform is uniquely positioned to shape the future of sustainable agriculture. The potential of micropeptides to provide precise, safe, and effective crop protection solutions is enormous. I’m honored to join a company that blends cutting-edge science with a commitment to global food security, and I look forward to leading the next phase of growth with our talented team.”

The appointment comes at a time when Micropep is preparing for the next stage of its commercial journey. The company is currently advancing its biofungicide product through regulatory pathways and has initiated strategic partnerships, including a notable multi-year collaboration with Corteva Agriscience, aimed at accelerating the discovery of novel crop protection solutions using its Krisalix™ platform.

With increasing global demand for residue-free and environmentally sound agricultural inputs, Micropep’s peptide-based solutions offer a breakthrough alternative to traditional chemical pesticides. The CEO transition is expected to catalyze further innovation, market entry, and global scale-up over the coming years.
