RESIL® Certified for Expanded Biostimulant Efficacy Claims in the EU

One of the first biostimulants to be officially recognized as a non-microbial plant biostimulant (PFC 6.B) under the new European Union Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR), this groundbreaking product has now achieved an expanded certification, reinforcing its leadership in the biostimulants category.

Initially certified in 2023, the product marked a pivotal shift in regulatory compliance, setting the bar high for efficacy, safety, and agronomic performance. As the EU continues to strengthen the regulatory landscape for biological inputs, only products backed by strong scientific data and field-proven results can earn and retain the PFC 6.B designation. This biostimulant has not only maintained its certified status but has now expanded its scope of authorized claims across a vast array of crops and performance indicators.

The expanded certification includes the following key agronomic claims:

  • Drought and heat stress tolerance: The biostimulant is now certified to strengthen plant resilience to abiotic stress, including extreme heat and water scarcity, for all 42 crops within the broadacre grouping and all 83 crops in the vegetables, ornamentals, and aromatic/medicinal/plant (AMP) crop grouping, as outlined under EN 17700:1—a harmonized standard recognized under the EU FPR framework.
  • Improved nutrient use efficiency (NUE): The product has demonstrated its ability to enhance the uptake and use of the three essential macronutrients—nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). These claims are applicable across all crops in the broadacre category, addressing one of agriculture’s most pressing challenges: optimizing input use while minimizing environmental impact.
  • Yield and plant performance enhancements in broadacre crops: Field trials have confirmed multiple benefits, including increased number of pods per plant, greater plant biomass, deeper and more extensive root systems, higher seed count per plant, and a marked increase in overall yield. These traits collectively support stronger harvest outcomes and improved return on investment for farmers.
  • Quality trait improvements in vegetables, ornamentals, and AMP crops: The expanded claims validate the product’s role in boosting chlorophyll content, fruit and plant weight, root development, marketable yield, and crop uniformity. These benefits translate directly into higher-grade produce and enhanced market value, making it a vital input for intensive horticultural systems.

This certification expansion not only underscores the product’s robust performance but also aligns with the EU’s broader sustainability goals. By enabling more efficient nutrient use and enhancing plant tolerance to climatic stresses, the biostimulant contributes to reducing the carbon and resource footprint of agricultural operations.

The certification process under the EU’s PFC 6.B category is among the most demanding globally, requiring evidence-based documentation, field trial data, and adherence to harmonized standards. That this product has not only met but exceeded these requirements is a strong testament to the science, innovation, and regulatory excellence behind its development.

As the industry looks ahead to a future shaped by regenerative agriculture and climate-smart farming, this biostimulant stands as a benchmark for how innovation, regulation, and sustainability can converge to support farmer profitability and environmental stewardship.
